NAD+

The Good Old Days

Although we enjoyed them, we probably didn’t fully appreciate all the amazing things our bodies could do when we were young. We could work hard, play hard, and were able to push ourselves just a little farther than we thought possible without experiencing significant repercussions. As we get a little older, though, we feel it after we’ve stayed out (or even up) too late or after we’ve pushed our workout a little too far. Our bodies, which were once so flexible and able, require a little more TLC and a little more support to continue to achieve our best.

Progress

We’re fortunate to live during a time when so much is understood about the way our bodies function. Scientific understanding has progressed so that we know how we can best facilitate health, wellness, and healing if we need it. There are so many ways we can leverage what young, healthy bodies do naturally to create better health as we hit middle age and beyond.

Supplements Including NAD+

Vitamins and other supplements are easy to obtain. If you go to a big box store, health food store, wellness clinic, or anywhere in between, you will find shelves of vitamins and supplements that benefit both our physical and mental health. Some highly beneficial supplements aren’t commonly found over the counter, but are available through a wellness provider.

NAD+, for example, is one of those supplements.

What Is NAD+?

NAD+, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a coenzyme our bodies produce in abundance when we’re young, but in decreasing levels as we age. Coenzymes and enzymes are proteins, which are the basis for all cellular function, and are necessary for our organs to function properly. As we age, and the level of NAD+ decreases in our bodies, we become more susceptible to age-related ailments.

Supplementing NAD+ may prove beneficial for a variety of physical and mental health concerns.

How NAD+ Therapy Can Help

Recently, the effectiveness of NAD+ has been shown through various studies. It works to reverse some signs of aging and age-related conditions. It can also reduce some of the collective damage caused by inflammation and oxidative stress that we all experience over time. These two miscreants can cause:

  • Inflammatory conditions including gout and some kinds of arthritis
  • Sluggishness and lack of energy
  • Issues with memory and cognition
  • Chronic disease like diabetes
  • Appearing aged and frail

NAD+ can help by:

  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Helping maintain health blood sugar levels
  • Preventing diabetes by treating insulin resistance
  • Decreasing plaque build-up in the arteries and heart
  • Managing depression
  • Positively affecting fatty liver disease
  • Helping healthy cells regenerate faster
  • Promoting healthy sleep patterns
  • Increasing energy level

NAD+ can be increased through eating well, sleeping well, exercising, and wearing sunscreen. However, if your NAD+ level is already low, sleeping well and having the energy to exercise may already be impacted by its absence.
